Bargaining update: Alberta Health Services GSS

Your bargaining committee thanks you for your continued patience during the bargaining process and for your composure, strength and resolve as we work toward a fair collective agreement for the 24,000 members of AHS GSS in the face of a new provincial government.

The latest:

AUPE received notice on June 29 that Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Labour, has established a three-member Compulsory Arbitration Board to deliberate our dispute with Alberta Health Services. This is a positive step toward resolving our impasse with the employer. Compulsory interest arbitration means a three-party board will hear the arguments of the union and employer and then make a decision on a collective agreement that is binding on both parties.

We expect compulsory arbitration to commence in late fall or early 2016. Your union will continue to press the new provincial government to direct Alberta Health Services to reengage in meaningful and respectful collective bargaining.

Your bargaining committee:

Your bargaining committee is committed to keeping you informed throughout the entire bargaining process. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of your committee with any questions, comments or concerns you may have.
