Posted July 19, 2016 in Health Care, Union Updates
Your bargaining committee this afternoon received independent arbitrator Phyllis Smith’s long-awaited ruling on your contract with Alberta Health Services.
The 3-year deal is retroactive to April 1, 2014. It will provide AHS GSS members a 2 per cent wage increase in the first year and second year, and a 1 per cent wage increase in the third year.
There is also an increase to the flex health spending account, to $750, effective April 1, 2016 on a pro-rated basis.
GSS members currently employed by AHS will receive retro pay automatically from the employer.AUPE will press AHS to provide that retro pay as soon as possible, however no date has been set at this time.
GSS members whose employment has been terminated prior to this agreement have 60 days to request, in writing, back pay from their AHS Human Resources department.
Your committee continues its review of the arbitrator’s ruling, along with previously agreed to articles, and will provide more details soon.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact a member of your bargaining committee with questions or concerns.
